Mert Sekmen is an AI/ML Engineer with an interdisciplinary background in computer science, data science, and health systems. His work focuses on applying machine learning and data-driven methods to healthcare and clinical research environments.
At Pangea, Mert contributes to an NIH-funded project focused on developing privacy-preserving machine learning systems for healthcare applications. His work includes collaborating with Siloam Health to design and generate realistic synthetic clinical datasets compatible with NIH data standards and healthcare data models. He also contributes to the development of a cloud-based federated learning platform that enables secure collaborative model training across healthcare organizations while protecting sensitive patient data.
In addition to his work on federated learning systems, Mert has experience in healthcare data systems and clinical informatics, including integrating electronic health record (EHR) data, working with clinical platforms such as Epic, and developing data pipelines that support healthcare analytics and machine learning applications. He is particularly interested in improving healthcare workflows and enabling data-driven insights that support clinicians, researchers, and healthcare organizations.
