Ali Sekmen holds the position of CEO at Pangea, where he plays a key role in defining the company’s vision and technology direction. With a strong background in academic leadership and research project management, Ali specializes in applying theoretical artificial intelligence to modern data science challenges.
Dr. Sekmen is the founder and CEO of Pangea. He also serves as a full professor of computer science at Tennessee State University, where he chaired the computer science department from 2010 to 2023. He received two Ph.D. degrees, in Electrical Engineering and Mathematics, from Vanderbilt University.
He served on the Tennessee State University Board of Trustees from 2017 to 2021 and chaired the department chairs council for over three years.
Dr. Sekmen has published over eighty articles in artificial intelligence, machine learning, robotics, computer vision, bioinformatics, and approximation theory. His research has been supported by the NSF, NASA, AFRL, ARL, USDA, the Department of Defense, Amazon, and Google.
